French Rugby Federation criticise treatment at post-match reception in Dublin

FRU delegates claim that they were put in a ‘crowded area’ while the IRFU representatives stayed in the Presidential Suite.

THE FRENCH RUGBY Federation (FFR) has accused the IRFU of showing disrespect towards some of its representatives at the Captain’s Dinner following Saturday’s Six Nations clash between Ireland and France at the Aviva Stadium.

A report in the French newspaper Midi Olympique claims that FFR delegates were placed in a ‘crowded area,’ while those in the IRFU committee were in the ‘Presidential Suite.’

The article, which ran under the headline ‘The French Rejected,’ describes the post-match reception as a ‘fiasco,’ and quotes French rugby’s Secretary General, Christian Dullin, as saying:

“It’s as if we were to receive the other unions in the snack bars at Stade de France, under the stands.

“I spoke to my Irish counterpart. Apparently, this was the first time that they applied this protocol.”
